Planning a trip can be very simple, as long as you organize yourself in advance. You can get a lot of information and advice about the place you are going to visit just by doing an internet search.
Here, we will mention the main responsibilities that we have as a traveler:
- Travel by choice.
- Find out, recognize and accept the risks that your trip entails.
- If you travel to a place you are not familiar with, see a doctor 4-8 weeks before your trip.
- Comply with the recommended vaccinations and sanitary measures required by the place you are going to visit.
- Carefully plan your trip.
- Carrie a medical kit and know how to use it.
- Hire insurance with the coverage that suits you best and is appropriate for your trip.
- Take into account the precautions you should have before, during and after your trip.
- Bring a prescription or medical report on the medications, syringes, etc., that you require for your trip.
- You are responsible for the welfare and health of minors who accompany you.
- Take the necessary measures to avoid transmitting any infectious disease to other people during and after your trip.
- In case of illness upon your return, inform your doctor in detail about any illness or discomfort, and inform about your recent trips.
- Show respect for the host country, its population and beliefs.
- Maintain responsible sexual behavior and avoid intimate contacts without adequate protection.
Get informed before traveling
As part of your trip planning, find as much information as possible about your destination. These are our recommendations:
- Location and availability of medical centers.
- Relative risks of the area you are going to visit (rural, jungle, urban).
- Type of accommodation you are going to use (Camping, hotel, hostel, etc.).
- Altitude and temperature.
- Security problems (conflicts, wars, etc.)
- Atmospheric pollution.
- Vaccines required or recommended.
- Meteorological situation (hurricanes, storms, etc.).
